OSHA Update – Fall Protection

An OSHA final rule governing general industry fall protection and affecting more than 100 million workers will take effect Jan. 17, though some compliance deadlines are delayed.

During BCA’s first look at the introduced bills for the Indiana General Assembly 2017 Session, four bills pertaining to industry specific environmental regulations stood out to us. The following is a quick overview of these introduced bills provided by the authors listed. BCA will follow these bills and others as over the course of the 2017 session and will update you accordingly.

If your facility has a pretreatment industrial wastewater permit, then your facility may have a wastewater certified operator, if your facility has a treatment facility.

On August 16th, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a final rule on more stringent truck emissions, primarily greenhouse gas emissions.

The EPA’s Tier 3 rule for Sulfur content in fuel were finalized three years ago. The Tier 3 rule requires the ethanol industry to meet the new 10 ppm standard by January 1, 2017.

Last month, EPA released a new guidance document called “Solvents in the Workplace” with the intent to help make the hazardous waste determination process simpler for facilities that use them. 

With bipartisan support, President Obama signed into law amendments to the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 (TSCA) on June 22, 2016. These revisions will toughen regulations on industrial chemicals in the United States.

On October 5, 2012 The Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest Establishment ACT was signed into law, with the final rule being published February 7 2014. This allowed the EPA to design an e-manifest system to launch in 2018.

The Public Comment Period is still open for EPA’s proposed updates to the National Pollutant Discharge Effluent System (NPDES) Program and Application.

On December 29, 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a proposal in the Federal Register titled, “Revisions to the Public Notice Provisions in Clean Air Act Permitting Programs” (RIN 2060-AS59).
